The Fall Of It All

The Sun has fallen all too early on this cool September night in Glen Ellyn.

The last several years… The seasons have not been what I grew up to know as typical. This year however, seems to re-align with my childhood perceptions.

It grows dark too soon already.

I enjoy the Fall weather we've been having, but the seemingly premature coming of night foreshadows the Winter to come. The trees will soon lose their leaves, becoming agonized bare branches reaching in pain for the skies.

A period I spend anxiously awaiting the RETURN of the leaves, and flowers on the aforementioned branches.

So what does it matter? The weather.

Why do I care whether there are leaves on the branches of trees, or flowers at their tips?

It has a profound effect on my mood. I often wonder if I’d be happier living in a more temperate climate during the Winter months.

Either way… It doesn't matter. My home is here in DuPage County. My duties to my passions require my presence here.

So as the cool night settles comfortably here in Glen Ellyn… I attempt to wrap myself in the blanket of reality. To accept what is.
